Girl hit by car in Vandergrift

A girl was struck by a car at the corner of Lowell Street and Hancock Avenue at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday, police said. According police radio transmissions, her age is 10. Vandergrift Lt. Casimer Maszgay could not immediately provide her name, confirm her age or give her condition. She was taken by ambulance to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Maszgay said.

Maszgay said the girl supposedly ran across the street in front of the car.

Police called an accident scene reconstructionist to the scene and had blood work done on the driver, Maszgay said. The investigation continues.
